The Rock ceremony is a great way to keep the blessings of your family and
friends forever and get them involved in the ceremony itself. It was designed
to symbolize the joining together of two lives and the blessing of the entire
family and circle of friends that witness the wedding.
As your guests enter your wedding they are presented with a rock and a
sharpie pen. Some use flat river rocks other go out and collect rocks on the
shore.
Although small, polished stones are usually used, the couple may choose to use
any other token they desire... sea shells, glass or crystal, flowers, etc.
As they wait for your ceremony to begin they write a short blessings on one
side and their names on the other.
Then right after you are pronounce husband and wife one of your attendants
or special family members pass around a
special vessel and the rocks are gently placed within. Then there is a moment
of silence where the blessing is given the guests are asked to silently bless your
marriage and future.
You of course keep the vessel as a reminder of your wedding and the blessings
you were bestowed with!
